Girls Skills Workshop

This June troop 27 hosted a Girls Skills Workshop at the church, allowing scouts an opportunity to learn many important Scout skills. Throughout the workshop, scouts learned several useful knots, including the sheep shank, square knot, clove hitch, and one-handed bowline. Beyond the skills themselves they also learned when and how each knot can be used. They practiced tying ropes around logs and bringing them over to practice for council events such as camporee. The workshop also introduced scouts to lashings and other techniques such as fire building and match lighting. They enjoyed snacks and lunch together and the troop got to bond further while building long term skills for future events and outings.
